Cheryl Christopher

Student Counselor

Cheryl Christopher is a master's-level counseling student at Lamar University. She is married to her college sweetheart, and together they have four children—two of whom they have lost in tragic circumstances. They are also the proud grandparents of eight grandchildren. Cheryl's journey through profound loss has shaped the heart of her counseling ministry.

Life can be beautiful—but also overwhelming, disorienting, and deeply painful. Cheryl knows this firsthand. Her journey through parenting, traumatic loss, life transitions, and cross-cultural living has deepened her understanding of what it means to heal.

Cheryl feels called to walk with others through seasons of change, grief, anxiety, and burnout. With a diverse background that includes working alongside her husband in a family-owned photography business, creating and leading an international bridal gown business, serving in women's ministry, and authoring two books on grief and healing, Cheryl brings a unique blend of creativity, resilience, and insight to her counseling work.

Her approach is rooted in the belief that healing is possible, even when life feels broken. Cheryl understands that faith does not shield us from difficulty, but it can carry us through. Her practice welcomes people of all backgrounds and honors the quiet, steady work of hope and restoration.

Cheryl's integrative, person-centered approach includes Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Cheryl believes that growth isn't linear and struggling doesn't mean you're failing. Her goal is to help you make sense of what you're going through.

"What if life could be different? What if it didn't have to be this way? Let's figure it out together."

In her free time, Cheryl enjoys reading a good mystery, oil painting, exploring new cookbooks, and spending time with her family.
